Functional Foyer
This foyer started as a blank state, with nothing but the coat closet. The homeowner was looking for as much storage as possible, easy access to frequently-used jackets, shoes, and bags, and a drop-zone for all the things that otherwise make their way onto your kitchen counters (mail, schoolwork, electronics, etc.). I included a large pantry on one side to provide much-needed storage. On the other side, I added a base cabinet with drawers and an upper cabinet to serve as the drop-zone and mail center. Between the two, I added an extra-deep bench, coat hooks, and display shelf with a vertical tongue and groove to add texture and interest. Opposite the built-ins, I did a gallery wall of family photos to keep the walkway clear but provide visual interest. Everything was done in a crisp white with warm wood tones and brass to remain consistent with the rest of the house.
