Modern Wet Bar Upgrade

This was one of my favorite projects because of the transformation that was achieved with a very limited budget and some sweat equity. This started as a 90’s wet bar with a tiled countertop, unattractive tiled floor, and dated mirrored backsplash. The woodwork was a nice maple, however, and in great shape, so we decided to leave it as-is. The modern color pallet and finishes surrounding it really bring it up to date.

The countertops were skim coated with a concrete overlay and then sealed, to achieve a concrete look without having to demo what was already there. A groutable luxury vinyl tile was laid over the existing ceramic tile, which ran under the cabinetry and would have been very difficult to remove and replace. A peel and stick tile was applied directly over the mirror and inside the cabinets on either side. I replaced the recessed lights over the bar with sleek, modern pedants, changed out the faucet and cabinet hardware, and added a few accessories.
