Minimalist Man Cave

This basement room was originally oriented toward the nineties built-in TV niche at the end of the room, which did not fit today’s flat screen TVs. Another challenge this room faced was the inability to get a large piece of furniture (i.e. a sofa) into it. We couldn’t fit one down the stairs and there was no door directly into the basement. Being this was intended to serve as a man cave, we went with two leather recliners instead of a sofa. The TV was placed on the opposite wall over a bank of floating cabinets that offered tons of needed storage. To address the dated TV niche, we converted it into an electric fireplace, clad in a rustic, black shiplap. The completed look is modern, masculine, and minimalist.
